In Don Tapscott’s book Grown Up Digital, Tapscott discusses the good and bad qualities of the “net” generation. He discusses in one point about how popular opinion of this generation is one of unsatifaction and criticism. Instead of learning healthy, essential skills, they waste their time in cyberspace playing games and instant messaging.
One of his main observations of their bad qualities include laziness and lack of maturity as individuals. Instead of living in the real world with real people, the youth of today have become reclusive and dependent upon the internet which has breed a generation deprived of real life experiences and skills. This generation of hermits devote their energy to internet activities like video games instead of healthy activites like sports. Not only are their interests unhealthy but they are addictive. Social and physical health can’t be achieved, alone, in a dim lighted room with cyberspace as the only means to grow.
